Originating in the bikepacking world handlebar bags are a convenient way to add storage to your bike. They strap on to the bottom of your handlebar adding extra storage for your phone, keys, snacks, La Croixs, or whatever you typically bring on your ride.

While these bags were originally utilitarian they are quickly becoming hip in the gravel, road, and cross country scene. Cycling clubs and outerwear manufacturers left and right are releasing their own version of the handlebar bag. To help you stay on top of this emerging trend here are 5 cool boutique handlebar bag manufacturers.

5 of the Best HandleBar Bags for 2022

1. LUGit Bespoke

Hailing from the United Kingdom LUGit Bespoke offers custom handlebars bags and frame bags. The handlebar bags come in two sizes, Small and Large. The small is 2.1 liters in volume, is 4×4”, and is 8” long. The large is 3.7 liters in volume, is 5×5”, and is 9” long. The larger bags come with side pockets and you can add pockets to the small bags for $9. These bags can be made to order in a variety of different colors.

What sets these bags apart from the rest is that they are handmade to your liking. The quality looks top notch and it is sure to turn heads during your cafe stop. To order, shoot LUGit Bespoke a message on Instagram.

2. MoosePacks

My second favorite bag manufacturer is MoosePacks. These bags are handmade in the USA and are made to order. The MoosePack is 8.75″ by 4.25″ and is offered in multiple colors. Moosepacks cost between $80-$130 depending on the features you choose.

I like these bags because they are handmade in the USA. They also have a very rugged tactical look to them. I could see this bag fitting well on a bike packing rig or your daily commuter. To order DM MoosePacks on Instagram or order from their online store.

3. M-Bags

Heading back across the Atlantic our third bag manufacturer is M-Bags out of the Netherlands. Cycling is an integral part of the Dutch culture and these bags reflect that heritage. These bags have a great minimalist aesthetic and are made to order. Their handlebar bags range in size from 3.5 liters up to 7 liters. You can also add side pockets, mesh straps, waterproof flaps, and many other accessories to these bags.

These bags stand out because they are truly made to order and pay homage to the Dutch cycling heritage. I can see an M-Bag being right at home on a commuter bike especially in a wet climate.

4. Ornot

Ornot is a cleverly branded cycling apparel company. They are based out of the Northern Californian home for gravel and road biking, San Francisco. Ornot aims to make minimalist cycling apparel that doesn’t make you look like a “rolling billboard”. What I like about this brand is that they are climate neutral, in 2019 they offset their entire carbon footprint via carbon credits. This is something I can get behind.

Ornot makes a regular-sized handlebar bag and a mini. The regular comes in black, has a 3.5-liter capacity,  features side pockets, and has a $90 price tag. The mini comes in black, sage, and plum. It has a 1-liter volume, is $68, and is Ornot’s solution to a minimal handlebar bag. I love the look of these bags and what the company stands for. I would recommend opting for the regular sized bag over the mini for the added space. In my opinion, when it comes to storage, more is always better, or not.

5. Post Carry Co.

My fifth favorite handlebar bag of 2020 is made by Post Carry Co. This company was founded by an industrial designer who was looking for a better solution for flying with a bike.

Their handlebar bag stands out because it is water-resistant. It also has a magnetic front flap closure. What I like about this back is that you can mount a race plate to the front of the bag. Combine this with two side stash pouches, a 2.5-liter volume, and this handlebar bag is a great choice for gravel riders and those all-weather road riders. This bag will run you $80 which is par for the course and is available in black and the occasional limited edition color.

Curious about which handlebar bag is best for you? Feel free to get in touch and I can point you in the right direction.
