The leaves are starting to change colors, winter is approaching fast, and the smell of ski season is in the air. 

But it’s not here yet. So to pass the time until ski season here are the 15 pro skiers you need to follow this winter.

Pro Big Mountain Skiers

1) Isaac Freeland

Isaac Freeland won the Freeride World Tour Championship in 2020. He hones his skills at Snowbird Utah and is known for his impressive bag of tricks. He is one to watch this year, especially if the Freeride World Tour takes place again.

2) Craig Murray

Craig Murray finished 4th overall in the Freeride World Tour in 2020. He won the Fieberbrunn stop with a huge flat spin into a cliff filled run out. This Kiwi is multi-talented and in the off season is a sponsored mountain biker riding for Pivot Cycles NZ along with his brother Charles. Be sure to follow this guy. 

3) Arianna Tricomi

Arianna Tricomi won the Freeride World Tour in 2018, 2019, and 2020. Originally from the Dolomites, this Italian freerider won the European Skier of the Year in 2018. During the off season, she is a physiotherapist and can be found mountain biking around the alps.

4) Jess Hotter

Jess Hotter finished 4th in the Freeride World Tour Overall and won the Kicking Horse stop. When she is not competing she is a Freeride Coach and Ski Patroller at her local mountain. 

5) Kevin Nichols

Kevin Nichols, or KevBot, is a 22-year-old skier from Vail, Colorado. He and his brother are both pro skiers and were on the Freeride World Tour in 2020. Follow him on Instagram as he posts regular bangers. The future of US skiing is alive and well.

Park Skiers

6) Colby Stevenson

Residing in Park City, UT, Colby Stevenson is a US slopestyle skier. He was the first rookie to win the Slopestyle event at X Games Aspen last year and went on to win the Knuckle Huck event as well. This 22-year-old skier is also set to compete in the 2022 Winter Olympic Games and is one to watch. 

7) Andri Ragettli

Andri Ragettli finished 3rd in X Games Big Air this year and finished the Slopestyle event in 4th place. He is known for his super creative style and his parkour videos. Be sure to follow him on YouTube and Instagram for entertaining content all winter.

8) Kelly Sildaru

Kelly Sildaru is a dominating force in women’s freestyle skiing with 9 X Games medals to her name. In 2020 she won the slopestyle and superpipe event. Growing up she was mentored by Candide Thovex and now rides for Faction Skis. Kelly and her younger brother Henry are two pro skiers that will shape the future of freestyle skiing. 

9) Giulia Tanno

As part of the Swiss Ski Team, Giulia Tanno has won two silver and two bronze X Games Medals. She also makes an appearance in the Faction The Collective Movie. It will be awesome to see what video parts she releases this year.

10) Finn Bilous

Finn Bilous is a park skier from New Zealand. He is incredibly talented and went toe to toe with Colby Stevenson in the 2019 SLVSH Cup. Skiing runs in his family, his brother Hank is on the Freeride World Tour. Check out Finn’s season edit here, he is one up and comer to watch.


Film Skiers

11) Cody Townsend

Cody Townsend is well known for his segments over the years in the MatchStick Production movies. But starting last year he set out to conquer the 50 classic ski descents of North America and the best part is he is filming all of them. Head over to his YouTube channel and you can watch as he checks off lines this season.

12) Nikolai Schirmer

Hailing from Tromso, Norway, Nikolai Schirmer is a talented skier, climate activist, and storyteller. He films his adventures and puts them out on his YouTube channel. His videos are high quality and focus on skiing and storytelling. I recommend watching his Schirmer in The Field series and his Endless Winter Series.

13) Tatum Monod

Tatum Monod is from Banff, Canada, and skis for Rossignol. She has filmed for many production companies including Level 1, MatchStick Productions, and The North Face. Make sure to give her a follow and watch her rip some lines this winter.

14) Hedvig Wessel

Hedvig Wessel is a former Norwegian Olympic Mogul Skier. She now is competing on the Freeride World Tour. Last year she documented her season on Youtube in her series called Hedvig’s Way. It will be interesting to see what this mogul skier can do on the big mountains this season.

Cole Richardson hails from Canada and is a glimpse into the future of freeride skiing. You can check out his season edit here.
